Rosella Tea, Cholesterol and Antioxidants


Rosella tea a lot growing in China, India, and Taiwan are often used as a traditional medicine to lower cholesterol in the body. But it benefits not only lower cholesterol, this tea also contains antioxidants and reducing high blood pressure.

Studies of experts in the Shan Medical University of Biochemistry in Taiwan took Rosella extracts and shown to decrease LDL cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. The results of this study published in the Journal of the Scinece of Food and Agriculture initiated by Dr.Chau - Jong Wang.

Dr. Chau-Jong Wang said that research has proven components rosella extract may reduce cholesterol and fat accumulated in blood vessels.

The same thing also expressed by Dr.Charmaine Griffiths, spokesperson from the British Heart Foundation as reported by the BBC that there was a content of antioxidants called flavonoids that can reduce LDL or bad cholesterol.

Meanwhile, a researcher from the Insititute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the Chung San Medical University, Ching Yun Chan, stated that the pigment from the dried rosella quite effective in destroying cancer cells. Therefore, further research on this is still done.

However, keep in mind also that to reduce cholesterol, you not only by drinking tea. Of course, it would be better if you include exercise and eating healthy foods to maintain your health.
